Overcoming Lust Workbook

Love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1 John 2:15-16

Lust – When Does it Start?
“…Make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lust thereof.” Romans 13:14

A man makes provision for the flesh when he feeds his flesh; he chooses to satisfy fleshly desires instead of overcoming them.
“Flee also youthful lust…”
2 Timothy 2:22
According to these Scriptures, lust starts in when a man is a youth.

What is Lust?
Lust is a longing of the soul. A longing that has not been satisfied God’s way can become lust.
A longing of the soul will lead a man astray into sin. With a man, in the lust for women, the longing in his soul is the need for affection and attention from a woman. The emotional need that drives the lust is the strong need for affection. Affection is a legitimate need that starts at birth, and should be properly met by a mother. The longing for touch and nurture that begins at birth is a very natural need, and it will continue until the child becomes a youth. If a man’s mother properly nurtured him, her nurture was God’s provision to satisfy his need and carry him until he meets his wife.
